Recognising those with Big Hearts - Suzi & Lauren of The Rainbow Centre in Kent
Fostering Together launched a new initiative this year, seeking to say our collective 'thank you's to those wider teams around the children we have the privilege to support that have amazing impacts on their lives, be it through the health & medical inputs, therapeutic support and more.
Our first Big Heart for Children with Disabilities Award, nominated by Foster Carers Nadine and Paul, was awarded to Paediatric Occupational Therapist Lauren Reed, and Paediatric Physiotherapist for the support they have given to a child they have fostered for many years.
Nadine and Paul said:
"You have made such a positive impact on her and our lives, and we appreciate all the extra lengths you have gone to. She always enjoys seeing you on your visits and therapy sessions!
Suzi and Lauren have both gone above and beyond to ensure she has the best quality of life possible and they have been a great source of advice and reassurance for us as foster carer whenever required."
Neil, Jack, Nadine, Paul and their foster child met the team at the Rainbow Centre (planned in secret with the staff at the centre!) to surprise Suzi and Lauren with their awards with a heartfelt thanks for everything they do.
The Big Heart for Children with Disabilities Award was a new initiative introduced by Fostering Together to celebrate amazing and under-appreciated people in the wider reaches of teams working with children and thank them for amazing impact they have for children who have disabilities, both those in foster care and not.
