Foster carers provide a nurturing and loving family home for children who are unable to live with their parents. Our supportive community helps to ensure that children with disabilities and complex medical needs can live in a family environment rather than in residential or hospice settings.

Fostering is both a life vocation and a viable career change for people who can provide love, care and attention to vulnerable children.

Why foster a child with disabilities?

Children come into foster care for a variety of reasons. A family illness, breakdown/problems at home, or a situation where they are neglected or at risk can lead to social services intervening to safeguard and promote a child's welfare.

Sometimes a parent may struggle alone or have an inadequate home environment to meet the needs of a child with disabilities or complex medical needs.

As a result of their life experiences, a child coming to live with you will need extra support to create secure attachments to you. Fostering Together will help and provide training and support on how to be the best foster carer you can be.

Although at times it can be challenging, our community of foster carers will tell you how rewarding it is caring for children with disabilities and how it positively impacts on their lives.
